SQUARE MODULE
The Square Module is a paper volume created for the Bio Product shop called FRAGRANCE.
FRAGRANCE sells high quality items about fragrance, perfumery and as candles, perfumes, tea boxes, essential oils...
Our volume is created to highlight a candle and two tea boxes.
About our Square Module :
The Square module is directly inspired from the module made by the Bourroulec brothers entitled Clouds.

We started to experiment different forms for the module like polygon, diamond and square.
We finally chose the square form because it reminds the shop's tiled floor.
By adding folding techniques on the square paper, we created a triangular pattern which gives flexibility to the volume.
By using different types of paper like Bristol paper, translucent paper, printer paper and different sizes, and assembling them thanks to sewing we created a patchwork.
The principle of a patchwork is to assemble different textures together by sewing.
The sewing gives strength, strain and flexibility to the assembly. Adding sewing points on different modules and connecting them by tying allows to define shapes and highlight paper folding.
We chose the white color in reference to the luxury packaging perfumes, which also better includes our project to the shop. The sewing allows a color touch. Furthermore, this color is a reminder of the exhibited products.
How Square Module is proposed :
The square module is presented as a kit.
The kit contains different sizes of structure composed of small and big modules, only small or only big modules, to play with the scales. Our structure is also composed by different types of papers, that let the light circulates in different ways. Users may assemble them the way he wants to present the objects. Indeed, the modules are pierced with holes to allow users to connect the paper module by tying and to give the shape they want.
The organisation in the shop :
Fragrance is a small shop located in the city center of Saint-Étienne.
The shop is very narrow but extends over its depth.
The front of the store has a small but very high showcase.
We decided to create a composition for the showcase to attract clients into the shop. Then, inside the shop, at the very bottom, we place our second structure, so the client must go through the whole shop to see the rest of the store.
